fishing

I really like fishing and wish I could do it now. Dad, who is fishing with Jesus and Jonah(talk about your fish stories!), taught me all I know about it. I miss him still after 32 years. I tried to interest the husband into it but he doesn't have the patience so I had to give up fishing. I really need a fishing partner because while I can put all manner of disgusting things on the hook I can't seem to get the darn fish off it! I've been shown any number of times and seem to fin myself every time and that hurts like the devil!
Dad used to fish at Lake Calumet on the south side of Chicago. The place also a dump, quite literally. Big concrete blocks with rebar sticking out, other flotsam and jetsam. A childs paradise, a mother's nightmare hehe. Now the only fishing there was carp. Carp is not only a very bony fish, it is also a bottom feeder. With the dump and a big harbor for Lake Michigan cargo ships you can imagine the gunk on the bottom of this lake! Dad generally gave his catch to the other fishermen. Mom got angry he didn't bring it home and he always said the fish will taste awful. But she insisted and he brought home his catch. She cooked it up and sure enough, smelled like diesel fuel. She never insisted again.
